THE AREA
The Brava Coast’s Baix Empordà province in the north east of Catalonia is a place of exceptional natural beauty. It is an area dominated by medieval villages and beautiful little coves and inlets sculpted by the sea. The area has long been the inspiration for many artists, most famously Salvador Dalí - surrealism in person.
DESCRIPTION OF THE TOUR
The tour will be centred around the places which were of greatest importance in Dalí’s life. We will visit the town of Girona, a place where Dalí used to enjoy long walks. Then go to the sanctuary where he got married and to Púbol castle, the greatest expression of his love for Gala.
We will leave Barcelona and head north for one hour to Girona. A small, laid-back, but modern town with an exceptional historical heritage which spans over two-thousand years. We will provide you with an itinerary for what we think is the most interesting route to take so that you can explore the town at your own pace and stop at the places that you are interested in. Or, you can choose to follow our guide who knows the town and its history well. You choose!!
After lunch, we will go to the sanctuary where Dalí and Gala got married. From here you have an unforgettable 360º panoramic view of all the Empordà, stretching from the Pyrenees mountain range to the Mediterranean Sea.
Our last stop is Púbol Castle, perhaps the most significant present that Dalí gave to Gala. A palace which provided the love of his life with an exclusive space, that not even he could enter without an invitation.
