A more accurate title for Mariona than “tour guide” is “a brilliant ambassador for Spain.”  She has an in-depth knowledge of Spanish art, architecture, culture, religion, and history which is comparable to any university professor.  Moreover, Mariona well-organized, flexible, and passionate about her work.   After showing me options of what we could cover in a week, Mariona designed daily tours that were individually tailored to meet my interests, preferences, and schedule.  Further, at my request, she helped me with my “rusty” Spanish, which enhanced the authenticity of my experience.  Her restaurant choices were excellent, and everyday I looked forward to savoring the Spanish cuisine.

Mariona was simply the best guide provided during our two-week cruise.  Not only did she know Barcelona's history and architecture, but she also demonstrated great concern for 'my people.'  An elderly couple came late to the rendezvous spot and then strolled by the waiting bus without any recognition.  Mariona jumped off the bus and rescued them without making them feel awkward for delaying the tour.  She is amusing, knowledgeable, and personable.  I highly recommend her as an English-tour guide.
