Tapas are the most fun way to eat in Spain: small samples of a variety of dishes to share: meat, fish and seafood, vegetables, sausages and ham, egg, cheese... fried, grilled, sautée, fresh... spicy or not... traditional or fancy...
In this tour I'll take you hopping from tapas bar to tapas bar in the Old Town the way Spaniards do. We'll discover how different regions of Spain prepare them, we'll try different specialities and local products, experiencing from the shabbiest taberns, to the traditional bars to the trendiest design venues. An itinerary conceived to show you the great variety of the Tapas World, and a wonderful approach to the creativity of the Spanish cooking!
WALKING TOUR (no transportation included, but... never more than 5 minutes walk from bar to bar!)
Fee includes my guiding around the Old Town alleys, translating and assisting you in the bars, and of course recomending the specialities of each place that you are likely to enjoy the most!
Fee does not include food/drinks. Unfortunately, if I included a fee, that would spoil the fun of improvising and a closed budget would limit our choices. Not including the food/drink gives you complete freedom to decide what you'd like to try, what kind of drinks you'd like to have (from a local beer or a coke to the finest wine glass!)... To me your satisfaction and your freedom to decide are the most important things!
Since we need to adapt to the bars opening hours, the tour MUST be run in the following schedule:
- LUNCH TOUR: noon to 4pm.
- DINNER TOUR: 8pm to midnight.
Note: the bars included in the itinerary may vary depending on the venues holydays and opening hours.

Clients feedbacks:
Special Tapas Tours for the Jamie Magazine journalists
Paul Dring, journalist, and William Meppem, photographer, came to Barcelona to prepare a story for the brand new Jamie Magazine, by the famous British chef Jamie Oliver.
I gave them 4 different Tapas Tours where we discovered all kind of venues and specialties in different areas:
On our first tour we explored the Tapas Bars of the Eixample district (around Passeig de Gràcia and Rambla Catalunya). The next day during lunch time we did the areas of Poblesec, Raval and Barceloneta, and for dinner we went to my favorite area: the Born section. Finally, on the morning of the last day we did the bars of the Boqueria Market and some other places in the Gothic Quarter.
By the end of their stay we were so full we couldn't eat anything else! And Paul and William had plenty of material for a great story. But we still felt we would had needed at least another 4 extra hours to cover a few more places (less centric, more out-of-the-beaten-track) that we couldn't fit in our itineraries...
Can't wait to see the next issue of the Magazine, where their story will be published. That'll be by the end of April or beggining of May. I'll keep you posted!
I'd just like to say that Marta did a great job. She was charming, knowledgeable, indefatigable and, most importantly, full of enthusiasm for what we were trying to achieve. I'd recommend her to anyone else unhesitatingly. Paul Dring, Jamie Magazine.

Mona and Lee from Seattle were visiting Barcelona and wanted to do something special one evening. Since they are foodies, my Tapas Tour was their choice!
We had a great time hopping from bar to bar in the Born section, and I also gave them lots of good tips for the rest of their stay in town!

This year my Tapas Tours are becoming everyone's favorite!
Tapas are these famous way to eat in Spain: small portions (appetizer-like) to share with friends and family and have fun!
In my tapas tours I take you around the Old Town jumping from bar to bar discovering the food of different regions of Spain (basque, galician, catalan...), different products (sausages, egg, vegetables, fish and seafood, wine, bread...) and different styles (from the shabby taberns to fancy design tapas bars). A yummy way to discover the local lifestyle!
Carn, peix i marisc, verdura i hortalisses, embotits i pernil, ous, formatge... fregits, a la graella, saltejats o frescos... picants o no... traditionals o moderns...

QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS TOUR
Question: Are you available on this date?
Answer: Yes, I'm available for a tapas tour, and I'm guessing although I cant' see your name here you must be Shaun.
I already sent you and email from my personal address giving you all the information about my tour. I'm copying it below, just in case it didn't get to you for some reason. Looking forward to your reply!
Dear Shaun,
Thank you for contacting me!
Yes, I'm available on May 25th for an evening tapas tour and I'll be glad to show you the best tapas in the Old Town!
But first of all, although you must have read my profile at Mycreativetours.com and Private-guides.com, let me break the ice and introduce myself in this video, so you can start knowing me a bit more. It was shoot as part of some friends internet project, but I think it is great as a presentation. You can also find clients reviews and more information on my tours in my blog and my website.
My tapas tour last for around 4h, and the itinerary covers the Old Town and the Born district (other areas are also available on request, but this is the most fun!). As Spaniards do, we'll walk from bar to bar sampling their specialties. The itinerary includes a variety of great places of all kind: from shabby taberns to regional bars, from trendy venues to old bars.
The fee is 210 euro for my services: chosing the bars and organizing the itinerary according to their oppening hours, helping at the venues getting a place to seat (when possible), translating between you and the waiters, recomending the best tapas at each place...
Food and drinks are not included. This way you always keep control of your budget and also are free to select the kind of food you'd like to try. I understand each person is different and while some might be daring enough to order things such as octopuss and tripe, some other might rather go for other safer (yet delicious!) specialities. Some might want to treat themselves with exclusive and expensive wines, some other are happy with coke and bier. So whatever is good for you, will be good for me!
8pm (20:00) is a good time to start, but on a Tuesday it might be better to start at 7.30pm (19.30), as on weekdays some bars start closing their kitchens before midnight.
So please confirm the time that would work best for you. Also, let me know where should we start the tour. If you are planning to stay in the Old Town, I could pick-you up at the hotel no problem. If you are staying in some other area, let me know if you'd want me to meet you there (and then take taxis to get to the Old Town - not included in the fee), or if we should agree on a place in the Old Town that is convenient and easy to find for you.
I hope this information sounds exciting. Let me know if there is any question you want to ask, and feel free to share your thoughts: the more I know about you the best experience I'd be able to create for you!
Once we have agreed on all the details I'll send you instructions on how to send me a 20% deposit in order to confirm the booking and finalize the reservation.
Looking forward to your reply!
Have a beautiful day!
Marta
Question: I have been to Barcelona before and discovered the wonderful food bars at the back of the Mercat de Bouqueria where I tried pig's trotters with a glass of cava and tripe in a savoury sauce, so as you can see I am fairly adventurous. However, as I am a young 60 year-old travelling on my own I am a bit cautious about going out in the evening so would love to try some places with you away from the usual tourist haunts.
Answer: Dear Sir or Madam (I'm afraid I can't see your name in this request...),
Yes, of course I'd love to take you out on an evening tapas tour! It's lots of fun... and delicious!
The tour lasts around 4h, and we visit 6 to 8 different tapas bars around the Old Town. I always try to make a fun selection of them so we can explore different athmospheres and try different products and specialties.
The price is 200 euro for my assistance (guiding around, translating, reccomending... anything else you'd need). The food and drinks are not included. As it is a walking tour, transportation is not included (but we might need to take a cab or subway/bus to the Old Town depending on where you're staying.
Please let me know when you plan to be in Barcelona, so I can check out my availability and confirm the dates with you.
Looking forward to your reply!
Have a great day!
Marta
