Epiphany Ethiopia (The commemoration of Jesus Christ...

Day 1:Arrival at Bole international Airport and transfer you to your hotel or Guest house .Day 2:After Breakfast , We then visit City tour of Addis Ababa and we escort Tabot the Arc of the Covenant to the near church . This is the celebration of Ethiopian Epiphany ( The commemoration of Jesus Christ Baptist by Johan ) This is the greatest Festival of Ethiopian year falling just two weeks after Ethiopian Christmas on January .It is Actually a three day affair. Preceded by the Eve of Timket when the dramatic and colourful processions take place , through the night of prayer and fasting ,to the great day itself and the commemoration of Christ Baptist by Johan in near the Jordan River and following on the third day the feast of st .Michel the Archangel ,Ethiopia's Most popular saint .

On the Eve of Timket January 18 is called KETERA ,and it is when the priest bring out the Tabot ( The Arc of the covenant ) from Each church and bless the water of the Tabot ( symboling the Arc of the Covenant and the table of law on Mt .Sina ) From each church and Bless the water of the Pool or river where the tomorrow's celebration . In Addis Ababa , many churches bring their Tabot to Janmeqda accompanied by their priest with prayer stick and Sistera , the Ringing of Bells and Blowing of Trumpet ,swinging bronze Censors from which whips of Incense smoke escape into the Evening air . The Tabot rests in their special Tent in . Each with its proud banner depicting the saint hoisted in front .   The priests pray throughout the long cold night mass is performed about 2am ,huge crowds of people camp out . In the morning the patriarch bless the water ,bishops and priests perform this ceremony third ceremony at other sites in Addis Ababa. The priest deep the cross golden into water then he sprinkles water on the assembled congregation .After this , relax and refresh finally drive you back to your next departure flight .
