Back Streets of Izmir

After breakfast, your guide for the day will come and collect you from the hotel. You'll have a briefing and then begin a full day of exploring the city with your guide.  You'll walk to the clock tower which is the symbol of the city. From here we will start walking through the local markets called “Kemeraltı” where you can find everything from Turkish Delight to traditional clothing, a great place to pick up souvenirs. You will visit the agora of the ancient city “Smyrna” at the end of walking in the bazaar area. After seeing this magnificient ancient site in the middle of a modern town, we’ll walk down to visit the St. Polycarp Church which was one of the seven churches of Revelation. We will have a walk to Alsancak where we will have chance to visit the house of Atatürk and we'll have lunch in one of the many local restaurants in Alsancak. Afterwards, we will take a ferry to Karşıyaka which is the other side of İzmir for a visit to the modern market. Then we will take another ferry to Pasaport where we finish our city tour.
