Treasures of Vojvodina Tour - private tour

We will cross the river Sava and travel northwards to the National Park of Fruska Gora. First we will visit the Krusedol Monastery considered as one of the most important cultural centres of Serbians in the 18th and 19th centuries. The Church of the Annunciation decorated with fresco paintings from the 16th and 17th centuries is the place where the first king of Modern Serbia, King Milan was buried. Later we will stroll through the baroque town of  Sremski Karlovci, the spiritual, political and cultural centre of Serbs during the Habsburg Monarchy. Four Lions’ Square in the centre of the town is surrounded by 18th and 19th century baroque buildings. The Orthodox Seminary is the second oldest Orthodox seminary in the world. This charming town is a centre of wine production including the famous Bermet dessert wine, which was found on the Titanic’s wine list. During the Habsburg Empire Sremski Karlovci used this wine as a bribe to soften Austrian authorities. After tasting wine we will head to Novi Sad for a walking tour of the old part of the town with its narrow side streets lined with historical buildings and enjoy the slow pace and relaxed atmosphere. The city centre abounds with buildings of different architectural periods, including gothic, baroque, secession and neoclassical. After lunch we will cross one of the bridges over the Danube to visit the Petrovaradin Fortress, built on a high cliff which overlooks the Danube and the town of Novi Sad. It was built by Austrians during 99 years as a military fort to reinforce their defence against the Ottomans. The four-story structure, which has been called the “Gibraltar on the Danube”, features 16  km of underground galleries, 12,000 gun holes and 13 gates. 

The price includes services of the Tour Guide, transportation in a higher class car with a professional driver and entrance tickets to all sites described in the itinerary. Meals and drinks are not included.

Por la mañana atravesaremos el río Sava y viajaremos por la llanura Panonica hacia el norte a Vojvodina.

Nuestra primera parada será en el Parque Nacional de Fruska Gora, en el Monasterio KRUSEDOL que se considera uno de los centros culturales más importantes de los serbios en los siglos 18 y 19.

Más tarde pasearemos por la ciudad barroca de Sremski Karlovci, el centro espiritual, cultural y político de los serbios durante la monarquía de los Habsburgo. Esta ciudad encantadora es un centro de producción del vino. El vino de postre, el famoso Bermet, se encuentraba en la lista de vinos del Titanic. Durante el Imperio de los Habsburgo los ciudadanos de Sremski Karlovci utilizaban este vino como un soborno para suavizar las autoridades austriacas.

A continuación nos dirigiremos a Novi Sad para un recorrido a pie por el casco antiguo de la ciudad con sus estrechas callejuelas bordeadas por edificios históricos y disfrutar de la lentitud y ambiente relajado. En el centro de la ciudad se encuentran numerosos  edificios de diferentes períodos arquitectónicos, incluyendo gótico, barroco, neoclásico y la secesión.

Después del almuerzo, vamos a cruzar uno de los puentes sobre el Danubio para visitar la fortaleza de Petrovaradin, construida por los austriacos durante 99 años como un fuerte militar para reforzar su defensa contra los otomanos. La estructura de cuatro pisos, que se ha llamado el 'Gibraltar en el Danubio', cuenta con 16 km de galerías subterráneas, 12.000 agujeros de armas de fuego y las puertas 13. La fortaleza fue construida en un alto acantilado con vistas al Danubio y la ciudad de Novi Sad.
